Michael Dryad/Aethryon
Michael Dryad, once known as Aethryon, is the central protagonist of Chaos’s Key. After sacrificing himself to end a devastating war, the transcendental deity chose to be reborn as a human mage. He returns as Michael Dryad, heir to the Archmage’s throne of Agartha, the hidden city beneath the earth and capital of the mage world.
Michael’s journey on Earth is anything but easy. As memories of his past life begin to surface, ancient forces and old enemies awaken, determined to finish what they began centuries ago.
Gebmar
Gebmar, the Earth Deva, is the deuteragonist of the Chaos’s Key series.
An elemental deity of immense power, he commands the forces of the natural world, including rock, soil, ice, water, forests, and fire. He can shift between his elemental form and a human appearance.
Originally assigned by the Deities of Nature to serve as Michael’s mentor, Gebmar soon discovers that his purpose goes far beyond guiding the heir to the Archmage’s throne of Agartha.
Ember
Ember is a major character in Chaos’s Key and the younger sister of Michael Dryad.
Born a non-mage, she is forbidden from entering Agartha, where only magic users are allowed. However, that rule does not stop her. Using clever disguises, Ember finds a way to bypass the city’s security and enter the hidden world.
Her decision leads her into the adventure of a lifetime, but also into dangers far greater than she ever expected.
Rigel
He was once a Transcendental Deva and a Great Dragon, until he committed high treason, losing his power, status, and ultimately facing exile from the Elemental Kingdom.
Nyx
Nyx is the mighty Atomic Deva, a being of immense power within Chaos’s Key. Originally chosen to serve as Michael Dryad’s mentor, her path takes a different turn when the Deities of Nature reveal a far greater purpose awaiting her.
As her true mission unfolds, Nyx stands at the center of forces that extend far beyond guidance, shaping events in ways few can fully understand.
The Fae
The Fae are the primary antagonistic force in Chaos’s Key.
A powerful criminal organization led by rogue elemental beings, they rose in rebellion against the deities of the Elemental Kingdom, igniting a devastating war. Though defeated, the Fae endure under the leadership of Eris, continuing to spread chaos and destruction across Earth.
Among their most notable members are The Whistler, a shadowy mercenary; Lady Anemoi, the former Sylph Queen of the skies; and Red Cap Ricimer, a ruthless dwarf warrior.
Dominique the Ink Wizard
Do not be deceived by its small and seemingly harmless form. Dominique, the Ink Wizard, is an exceptionally dangerous entity, feared even by its fellow Fae.
The Benandanti
The Benandanti are an elite order tasked with protecting Agartha, often serving as bodyguards to high-ranking officials. Currently led by Tyrone Dryad, they are composed of highly skilled and powerful werewolf and vampire warriors.
Notable members include Michael’s personal bodyguards, Lieutenant Yong, Evita, and Thomas.
The Freedom Warriors of Agartha
The Freedom Warriors of Agartha are a notorious anti-government faction that has, for decades, waged a relentless campaign to overthrow the Dryad family and the Agarthian ruling class.
The Dryad Family
The Dryad family is the ruling mage dynasty of Agartha, having governed the hidden city since its founding. Currently led by Archmage Perseus Dryad, Michael’s grandfather, the family stands at the center of power within the mage world.
The Elementals
Elementals are magical nature entities that inhabit the universe of Chaos’s Key. The majority reside within the Astral Plane, in a realm known as the Elemental Kingdom. However, they also exist across planets such as Earth and beyond, acting as guardians and caretakers of the natural world.
They are divided into the following castes: Transcendental, Cosmic, Atomic, Terrestrial (Earth), and Sky. Among the most notable elementals in Chaos’s Key are Quetzalcoatl, Aetna, and the Gem Pixies of Agartha, including Zoisite.
Allies
Allied characters in Chaos’s Key are composed of Agartha’s citizens, including mages, magical beings, werewolves, and vampires, who aid the protagonists on their journey. Among the most notable allies are Louise and Alvin.
The Joness, The Investors, & The Ministers
The Investors are a group of non-mage humans led by James Joness and Fiona Joness Dryad, the estranged sister of Perseus and the only mage among them. The group includes Tristan, Aida and her dog Felicia, Sofia, and David. They were invited as guests by Prime Minister Narceus and the Minister of External Affairs, Theodora.
James and Fiona are also accompanied by their daughter, Charlotte, and their grandchild, Phillip.
The Enchanted
The Enchanteds are magical anthropomorphic beings who serve within the upper ranks of Agarthan society. They are commonly found as chamberlains, attendants, private secretaries, and trusted staff to the elite.
